Leah Ramos is Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer at STO Building Group (“STOBG”), a construction services company with over 5,700 employees and more than $15 billion in annual construction volume across offices in the United States, Canada, Ireland, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. Leah is responsible for building and running STOBG’s compliance and audit programs—overseeing the teams responsible for internal controls, legal and regulatory compliance, and a company-wide culture of integrity.
Before joining STOBG, Leah was Director of Financial Disclosure Compliance and Counsel at the New York State Joint Commission on Public Ethics, the state agency created to restore public trust in government by enforcing the state’s ethics and lobbying laws. She provided advice and guidance on the state’s ethics and lobbying laws, led investigations and enforcement proceedings, and managed the processing of more than 30,000 financial disclosure filings made by statewide elected officials, executive branch officers and employees and legislative branch officers, employees, and candidates.
Before her government service, Leah spent over a decade as a litigator at Am Law 100 firms, focusing on complex commercial and employment matters at Morrison & Foerster LLP and Thompson Hine LLP. Early in her career, she clerked for the Honorable Denny Chin, then a district judge in the Southern District of New York, and began her practice as a litigation associate at what is now K&L Gates.
Leah received her BA from the University of Pennsylvania and her JD from Fordham Law School. She also served as an Adjunct Professor at Fordham Law School, teaching legal writing and research and lawyering fundamentals to first-year students.
