Caren K. Khoo, Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, directs legal strategy for Verizon Business core functions, supporting marketing, digital channel, transformation, customer experience, global customer operations, and compliance. She oversees legal support and operations for B2B and SMB wireless sales, as well as wireless device manufacturer relationships across all of Verizon. Previously, as Head of Intellectual Property and general counsel for Global IT, Data & AI, Caren established Verizon’s AI and open-source legal practices, and launched the company’s Responsible AI governance program.
Dedicated to developing talent and fostering inclusion, Caren co-founded the New York regional chapter of ChIPs and serves on its national Social Impact Committee. She commits time to pro bono legal support for children and teens, and serves on the board of World Childhood Foundation USA, a non-profit shining a light to end child sexual abuse and exploitation.
Caren holds a J.D. and Master of Intellectual Property from UNH Franklin Pierce School of Law and a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Rutgers University. Earlier, she practiced IP litigation at Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto and Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr.
