Rodney Villazor has extensive courtroom experience, having tried 17 jury trials to verdict as a federal prosecutor and in private practice. One of his most notable victories include a complete jury defense verdict in federal court for a global financial institution accused of fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, and aiding and abetting a commodities brokerage house engaged in a massive fraud. Immediately prior to leaving government service, he secured trial convictions in police corruption cases involving honest services fraud, wire fraud, and civil rights violations in San Francisco.
Rodney’s recent experience includes representing a former CFO indicted in federal court for alleged insider trading and an individual indicted in federal court for orchestrating an alleged cryptocurrency Ponzi scheme. He also counsels clients in federal grand jury investigations involving insider trading, antitrust violations, money laundering, fraud, and cryptocurrency. He has also led several internal corporate investigations of alleged corporate misconduct, delivering results under strict time constraints.
He has been selected as a member of the Defense Lawyers Advisory Committee to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey and appointed by the Chief District Judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey to two Federal Magistrate Judge Merit Selection Panels.
